WILLIAMSBURG, KY – After multiple weather delays and key performances, Campbellsville came away with a third-place finish at the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Championships this weekend.
Alexia Schofield led the way for Campbellsville this weekend, winning both the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, she hit a new personal best mark by .12m with a jump of 5.83m on her final attempt of the day. For the triple jump, Schofield was able to hit 12.12m on her last attempt of the day.
Dasia Garland helped the Tigers earn six points, following Schofields's ten points in the triple jump. Garland was the bronze medalist in the event with her best jump of 11.05m. Alexia Boyd was the silver medalist behind Schofield in the long jump. Boyd jumped for a mark of 5.67 on the day.
In the high jump, TaMya Davis earned the bronze medal after a 1.45m height on her first attempt of the event.
Kayla Barr had a busy weekend throughout the throwing events. She was the runner-up in the discus throw with a mark of 38.52m on her fifth throw of the day. In the shot put, Barr was 5th place overall at 10.37m. Her final event of the weekend scoring was the hammer throw. She was 5th in the event at 37.13m. Layla Taylor helped with scoring in the hammer throw, placing 7th overall at 30.89m.
Ariana Simmons was the final field event scorer for the Tigers at the championships. She placed 5th in the javelin throw, with her best throw landing at 29.85m.
On the track, Anna-Claire Carwile ran the 10,000m run, placing 8th, earning one point in 45:52.72. Hailey Shank earned the silver medal in the 3,000m steeplechase with a new personal best time of 11:57.88. Cailyn Godsey was 6th in her 5,000m racewalk in 34:17.03. Nina Daman was the last point scorer for the distance events this weekend with a 4th place performance in the 5,000m run of 19:09.68.
For the relays, Campbellsville scored 21 points total across the three events. In the 4x100m relay, Schofield, LaAuhnni Lewis, Jaci Johnson, and KaNiya Douglas were runner-ups in 46.92. For the 4x400m relay, Victoria Young, Johnson, Douglas, and Piper Clark placed 2nd in 3:54.51. The 4x800m relay saw a 4th place finish from Steff, Daman, Shank, and Brianna Collins of 10:40.14.
Makiyah Allen earned her silver medal in the 100m hurdles with a performance of 14.54. Later in the meet, she ran the 400m hurdles, earning the bronze medal in a new personal best and lowering the school record time to 1:06.06. The previous record was set back in 2008 by Kailtlin Pritchett with a time of 1:06.67.
In the 400m, Douglas set a new school record in the event with her time of 56.93, securing an NAIA B Standard. The previous record was held by Savannah Gregory back in 2019, of 57.03. Boyd and Lewis teamed up in the 100m to earn 13 points for the team. Boyd was 2nd in 12.12, while Lewis placed 4th in 12.64.
15 points came from the 200m, with Schofield, Johnson, and Lewis all competing. Schofield was the silver medalist in the event with her time of 24.19, Johnson was 4th at 25.47, and Lewis placed 7th in 26.57.
Overall, Campbellsville finished 3rd as a team with 176 team points.
Campbellsville will now go directly to the NCCAA Outdoor Championships on May 8-10 this week in Columbia, South Carolina.
