Mark Miller to take over Cross Country programs

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Mark Miller will take over as head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs, the Campbellsville University Athletic Department announced Thursday.

Entering his 10th year overall with the Tigers, Miller brings nearly three decades of collegiate coaching experience across the NAIA and NCCAA to the cross country programs.

Miller initially joined Campbellsville in July 2017 as the head coach of the men's and women's track and field programs. In his first season, he coached NCCAA national runner-up Garland Webb and led 11 individuals to All-Mid-South Conference honors. Before taking on the title of director of track operations for the 2024-25 academic year, Miller guided Campbellsville student-athletes to five NCCAA national championships in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Under his watch, the Tigers also swept the men's NCCAA indoor and outdoor titles in 2023 and 2024.

Individual national champions under Miller's tenure at Campbellsville include Tre Webb (2018-19 indoor and outdoor triple jump), Haley Payton (2018-19 indoor triple jump), Corbin Harris (2018-19 5,000-meter run), and Sam Kiser (2018 outdoor 800-meter). During the 2018-19 season alone, his athletes earned 23 All-MSC honors.

Prior to arriving at Campbellsville, Miller spent three years as an assistant track and field coach at Olivet Nazarene University, where he oversaw sprinters and hurdlers and coached 10 NAIA All-Americans.

From 2009 to 2014, Miller was the head coach at Spring Arbor University, where he nearly doubled the women's program's size by expanding the roster to 51 student-athletes. He also served as the inaugural head coach at Oklahoma Wesleyan University from 2005 to 2009. During his time in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, he produced three national champions and six All-Americans, earning Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2007.

A native of Ludlow, Kentucky, Miller began his coaching career as an assistant at Indiana Wesleyan University from 1996 to 2001. He then moved to Dakota Wesleyan University, where he served as an assistant track coach and assisted with the cross country program from 2001 to 2005.

Miller holds a USA Track & Field Level II certification in sprints, hurdles, and relays. He also served as the NCCAA chair for indoor track and field from 2014 to 2016.

He earned an Associate of Science and a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology from Morehead State University, as well as an Associate of Arts in youth ministry from Indiana Wesleyan. Miller completed his Master of Education in curriculum development at Dakota Wesleyan.
