Vick's 30-point game helps Tigers claim victory over Wildcats; Milburn becomes all-time leader in career blocks

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The Tigers hosted the Bethel University Wildcats on Thursday night. After a relentless 40 minutes of basketball, Campbellsville collected their second conference victory of the season, 79-75.

Kam Vick opened the game with fierce action from the opening seconds of the game with an avid jumper. Both teams struggled to score as each other's defense remained active, which prevented them from building momentum. KJ Banks and Javaughn Smith racked up bucket after bucket to grasp the lead and claw their way up the advantage. The game saw timely steals from both teams, a testament to the striking pressure on both ends of the court. Campbellsville's defensive rebounds and Bethel's offensive rebounds preserved the high-energy action throughout the half. The Tigers kept an advantage of at least five points over the Wildcats as the time on the clock expired. Bethel stole the lead from beyond the arc, closing the first half with Campbellsville trailing, 35-32.

Much like the first, Vick scored three back-to-back baskets in the first two minutes of the second half, reclaiming the Tigers' upper hand. The Wildcats stayed close behind but were unable to claw their way up to Campbellsville's lead as they continued to miss shots in the paint. Keaston Brown's timely assists and Jay Milburn's relentless rebounds kept the Tigers ahead. Bethel's missed three-pointers remained one of their biggest weaknesses as the second half unfolded. Campbellsville strongly capitalized off the Wildcats turnovers to maintain the gap on the scoreboard with only five minutes left in the contest. Dalton Kramer elevated his offensive strikes, scoring back-to-back triples, both assisted by Banks. As the Wildcats stood only one possession away from the Tigers' lead with only 15 seconds remaining, the game quickly turned foul-heavy, bringing multiple players to the free-throw line. At the end of the game, Campbellsville took the victory, 79-75.

The Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Georgetown, Kentucky, to battle the #2 Georgetown College Tigers on Saturday, February 15th, beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

  • Three Tigers reached double digits throughout tonight's game: Vick with 30 points, Milburn with 14, Kramer with 13, and Banks with ten. Milburn also led with seven rebounds and Vick with ten field goals.
