LOUISVILLE, KY -
Dasia Garland and
Christy Shank helped lead the Tigers to a 3rd-place team finish at the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships on Thursday.
Garland is coming off her NCCAA victory over the weekend added a Mid-South Conference title to her resume. She won the triple jump on her second jump of the day of 11.45m. Rookie
Kenniqua Grate placed 4th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.53m. Garland also took 4th in the long jump and was only .16m off a bronze medal in the event with a mark of 5.13m.Â
Shank had a busy day competing in the mile and 3,000m. Shank won the mile in the final 400m of the race where she made a decisive move that the field could not respond to. She won with a time of 5:09.21. In the 3,000m, she won the silver medal and hit an NAIA B Standard and set her own school record in the event of 10:03.22. Shank has now hit an NAIA qualifying time in the mile, 3,000m, and 5,000m this season.Â
Makiyah Allen has continued her success this indoor season. She lowered her NAIA B Standard time and school record in the 60m hurdles. She was the silver medalist in the event and ran a new best time of 8.77. Allen qualified for the finals in the 60m dash, where she placed 4th overall in 7.80. Allen also added to her point total in the 200m. She placed 6th in the race with a personal best of 25.66.Â
Nina Daman earned three points in 6th place for the 3,000m run. She ran a season-best of 11:11.17. Both Daman and
Emma Madding gave the Tigers ten points from the 5,000m run. They were separated by .06 seconds, with Daman finishing 4th in 21:10.17, and Madding was 5th in 21:10.23.Â
Cailyn Godsey punched her ticket to the NAIA National Championship with an NAIA B Standard time in the 3,000m racewalk. She shattered her own school record in the event with a time of 17:38.59, placing 5th. The distance medley relay won the bronze medal for their 13:48.81 performance. Madding,
Maggie Jewell,
Jennifer Buttery, and Daman were all on the relay. Madding, Buttery,
Julia Smaldone, and
Anna Claire Carwile placed 4th in the 4x800m relay in 10:39.06.Â
Grate and Makiyah Jones combined for seven total points in the high jump. Grate hit a height of 1.55m, clearing it on her first attempt of the day. Jones placed 7th with a height of 1.40m.Â
Kayla Barr was the bronze medalist in the weight throw. She threw her best mark of the day on the 5th throw that landed at 13.75m. In the shot put, Barr added five points to the team total with a 4th place finish in the event with a mark of 10.17m.Â
Campbellsville will now look towards the NAIA National Championship in two weeks in Gainesville, Florida, from February 27th through March 1st.Â
