GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Cailyn Godsey qualified for the finals in the 3,000m race walk Thursday morning. 

Godsey placed 5th in her heat of the preliminary round. She kept a 5.26-second spread throughout the first 14 laps; in her final lap, she split a 58.88 to finish with a new school record time of 16:28.98. 

Going into the finals, Godsey is ranked 9th with 12 total athletes who qualified for Friday morning's final. She will need to place in the top eight to earn All-American honors.
