Christy Shank led the way for Campbellsville at the NCCAA Championships placing 4th in the team standings.
Allen once again improved upon her school record and NAIA B standard in the 60m hurdles by another .01 seconds in 8.80 in the preliminary round. In the finals, she won the 60m hurdles title by a sizeable margin of .12 in 8.97. Allen earned All-American honors in the 60m dash finals in 7.89, beating out fourth place by .01 seconds. Allen was .10 seconds away from another All-American honor in the 200m. She placed 4th overall in 26.38, while third was 26.29.
Shank continues her success, which started back in cross country season. Shank won the 5,000m run in 17:48.48. She made her winning move in the final 1,000m of the race, where she created a four-second gap in one lap and never looked back the rest of the race. Shank qualified for her second event at the NAIA National Championships with a school-record performance in the mile. She ran an NAIA B Standard time of 5:06.72, only .82 seconds off a title in the event, placing 2nd overall.
Garland won the triple jump on her third jump of the day. She hit a mark of 10.96m. Later in the finals, she improved upon her winning mark in the final jump of the day, which landed at 11.18m. Garland was only .03m off All-American honors in the long jump with a mark landing at 5.23m, placing 4th in the event.
Piper Clark added to the team's points in the 400m with her 6th-place finish of 1:01.95. For the 4x200m relay, Allen,
LaAuhnni Lewis, Garland, and
Kenniqua Grate brought back four points, placing 5th in 1:51.66. Two points came from the 4x800m relay: Anna-Claire Carwile,
Jennifer Buttery,
Julia Smaldone, and
Emma Madding placed 7th in the finals in 10:46.12. For the distance medley relay, Smaldone, Carwile, Buttery, and Clark had another 7th-place finish in the event in 14:11.15.
Grate earned All-American honors after her 3rd-place finish in the high jump. She cleared 1.52m on her first attempt of the day. Grate was close to her second All-American of the meet in the triple jump, placing 4th at 10.24m.
As a team, the Tigers were 4th overall with 77 team points. Host Cedarville University won the meet with 179.33 points.
Campbellsville will now have one final meet in the regular season of the indoor schedule at the Mid-South Conference Championships on Thursday, February 13th, in Louisville, KY.
