MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Campbellsville had a quick turnaround after the NAIA Indoor National Championships to open up the outdoor season at Myrtle Beach over the weekend.
Makiyah Allen began her outdoor season with a 12th-place finish in the 100m preliminary round of 12.49. Allen kept her top-15 placement finishes going in the 200m, where she placed 14th overall in 25.87. Allen completed her weekend with a bronze medal finish in the finals of the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.41. All-American
Piper Clark was six spots behind Allen in the 200m, placing 20th in 26.36. Clark earned a second 20th-place finish in the 400m with her first sub-60 second 400 of the outdoor season of 59.22.
Brianna Collins ran a top-25 finish in the 800m with a season-opening time of 2:31.04. Collins was able to earn a 5th-place overall finish in the 1500m Division II race, finishing in 5:12.63.
Anna Claire Carwile and
Jennifer Buttery joined Collins in earning top-20 finishes in the 1500m. Carwile placed 13th in the finals at 5:26.72, and Buttery was 19th in 5:33.33.
Maggie Jewell placed 14th in her 3,000m steeplechase season debut in 13:32.64. Collins, Carwile, Jewell, and Buttery gave the Tigers one point from the 4x800m relay, placing 8th overall in 10:45.12.
Kenniqua Grate earned her first win of the outdoor season in the Division II portion of the high jump. She hit a height of 1.55m while clearing it on her first attempt of the day. After competing in the NAIA Indoor National Championships,
Dasia Garland opened up her outdoor season in the long jump. Garland placed 15th on the day with a mark of 5.12m.
Campbellsville will return to the track on Saturday, March 22nd, at the Lee University Invitational.
