WILLIAMSBURG & WILMORE, KY – The Tigers were split squad this weekend at Asbury and the University of the Cumberlands over the weekend.
The throws crew traveled to the Asbury Invitational on Friday.
Kayla Barr placed 4th in the shot put, earning five points for the team with a mark of 9.87m on her first throw of the afternoon. Barr came back with a 34.28m throw in the discus throw in the finals, placing 3rd overall. Her best event of the day was the hammer throw, where she set a personal best with a mark of 43.13m, earning 2nd place overall.
The distance squad traveled further down Highway 75 to the Gordon Bocock Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Christy Shank continues to set the standard for the distance side of the track. Shank set the school record in the 800m with a new personal best and winning time of 2:15.71, only 1.21 seconds off an NAIA standard. Shank was the runner-up in the 1500m, getting beat out at the line in 4:43.14.
Brianna Collins earned three points in the 1500m, placing 6th in a personal best of 5:05.26.
Jennifer Buttery was 6th overall in the 5,000m run in 21:27.02.
Maggie Jewell and
Julia Smaldone combined for 13 points in the 3,000m steeplechase. Jewell was the runner-up in the event at 12:46.47, and Smaldone placed 4th at 14:10.59.
Campbellsville will travel to the Georgia Tech Invitational on Good Friday and Saturday April 18-19.
