Shank punches her NAIA National Championship ticket, Allen leads the way in the sprints over the weekend

LOUISVILLE, KY– Campbellsville battled the wind and rain Friday and Saturday in the final regular season meet of the season ahead of the Mid-South Conference Championships.

Christy Shank punched her ticket to the NAIA National Championship in the 800m. Shank placed outside the top ten in the event with a new personal best and NAIA B Standard of 2:14.43. Continuing her stellar season, Makiyah Allen led the way in all three of her events over the weekend. She was the top finisher for the team in the 100m at 12.28 (1.0 wind); in the 200m, she crossed the line in 25.90 (0.6 wind), and in the 100m hurdles, she finished in a time of 14.52 (1.1 wind). 

Piper Clark finished her 400m over the one-minute barrier in 1:00.22. Julia Smaldone and Nina Daman led Campbellsville in the other distance events. Smaldone was the first finisher for the team in the 1500m at 5:29.90, and Daman ran in the 5,000m, running a season-best of 18:56.59. 

In the field events, Kenniqua Grate earned the bronze medal in the high jump with a height of 1.55m on her second attempt of the day. Dasia Garland recorded her best jump in the long jump on her second attempt with a (1.2 wind) that helped her to a 5.01m mark. Layla Taylor had an opening throw in the discus to be her best of the afternoon at 26.92m. 

Campbellsville will now turn its attention towards the Mid-South Conference Championships May 4-5 in Williamsburg, KY.
