KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Campbellsville University men's wrestling team landed at #8 in the sixth regular-season edition of the NAIA Men's Wrestling Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Thursday by the national office. The Tigers gathered 139 team points, sliding one spot from their previous ranking following a split in Mid-South Conference dual action.
Mid-South Conference rival Cumberlands (Ky.) moved to #7 with 141 points after edging Campbellsville 19-18 in a dual last week.
Despite the slight shift in team standing, the Tigers feature a deep lineup with ten ranked individuals, including five staying firm in the top ten.
Jasitin Kubwimana continues to anchor the squad, holding steady at #4 in the 165-pound weight class. He recently added a first-period pin in the Tigers' dual victory over Georgetown.
Shad Slone remains at #7 at 174 pounds. Slone has been a dominant force, recording a 39-second pin against Georgetown and a decisive 8-1 decision over #8 Weston Melvin in the dual against Cumberlands.
Nik Yancey and
Nick Moore also maintained their top-10 status. Yancey stays at #8 at 149 pounds after picking up a pin against Georgetown and a decision win over a ranked opponent from Cumberlands. Moore holds the #9 spot at 141 pounds, highlighted by a major decision win in the Georgetown dual.
Brice Parks rounds out the top-ten group, checking in at #9 at 184 pounds following a 13-6 decision victory in the Cumberlands dual.
Several Tigers made positive moves or entered the rankings in this edition:
- Ashton Boswell climbed one spot to #12 at 197 pounds. Boswell has been surging, most recently delivering a clutch 11-0 major decision shutout against Cumberlands.
- Antwaun Burns moved up to #14 at 157 pounds. Burns secured a 16-6 major decision in the road win over Georgetown.
- Anthony Joseph enters the rankings at #21 at 157 pounds. Joseph competed at the Missouri Valley Invite, where he secured a fall in the second round.
- Jake Hurst also checks in at #23 in the 165-pound division.
Izaeah Beavers completes the ranked contingent, landing at #14 at 133 pounds.
