BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Coming off of a quality senior day outing for both the men's and women's swimming teams at Campbellsville University, the Mid-South Conference announced that sophomore
Sebastian Escobar and freshman
Sarah Worthamearned MSC Swimmer of the Week honors.
Both CU swimmers competed in four events in their dual victories against Shawnee State at the Powell Athletic Center as the men earned a 197-41 win and the women earned a 137-105 win over the Bears in their first and only home event of the fall.
Escobar's four events included the 200-meter medley relay, 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly, and 200-meter freestyle relay where either he or his relay team earned the win in the race. He earned and NAIA B-Standard cut in the 200-meter freestyle with his 1:59.39 time to beat out seven other competitors.
In the 100-meter butterfly, Escobar finished with a 1:00.64 time to earn the win in the five-person race and the freestyle relay finished 1:44.83 with the medley relay finishing 1:57.26 to win the races against two other teams.
Wortham's four races were the same relays in the 200-meter medley and 200-meter freestyle on the women's side as she also earned wins in the 50-meter freestyle and the 200-meter butterfly. Wortham's 50 free time finished at 30.62 to win in the field of seven competitors with her 200 fly time finishing at 2:51.11 to edge out two foes.
The relay wins finished with times of 2:17.57 in the medley and 2:04.70 in the free relay as the freestyle race had four teams and the medley had three teams.
The Tigers and Lady Tigers have wrapped up their fall schedule for 2020 and will hope to get back to action upon return to campus for the start of the spring 2021 semester.
