SILVIS, Ill. — Lady Tiger golf flipped a seven-stroke deficit into a 12-stroke victory over University of the Cumberlands and 16 other teams at the William Penn Invitational hosted at TPC Deere Run.

The Lady Tigers broke the tournament record with a 300 in the second round. As a team, CU finished at 38-over (314-300; 614). The victory is the first for CU this season and is the first tournament win over rival Cumberlands in the past 11 years.

In addition, senior Cassidy Scantland broke the individual tournament record with a one-over, 70-73 (143). The win for Scantland extends her program record to 13 career tournaments.

Out of the four Lady Tigers that traveled this week, three of them finished in the Top 4. Anna-Marie Hyatt placed second and Michaela Jarman placed fourth. Kylie Withrow rounded out CU with a 26thplace finish.

After firing a two-under, 70, in the first round, Scantland didn't slide much with a one-over 73 in the second round. She finished with three bogeys and two birdies – but none bigger than the birdie on the par-five 18th hole to seal the victory by eight strokes.

Hyatt carded four bogeys and finished with one birdie on the par three 12th – one of three birdies as a team for the Lady Tigers at the 12th hole.

Jarman was up-and-down for the majority of the day but led the Lady Tigers with five birdies and four bogeys to finish with a one-over 73. The 73 ties Jarman's lowest round of the year, which came in the first tournament of the fall at SCAD Atlanta. It is also one stroke off her career-low (72).

Withrow rounded out CU's scoring only three bogeys today but fell victim to a pair of doubles, including the opening par-four 1st. She improved nine strokes on the week after carding an 88 in round one.

CU finished the par fours with a stroke average of 4.33 but took advantage of the par threes by shooting an average of under par at 2.88. The par fives were even across the board with an average of five strokes per hole.

The win is the first this season after four runner-up finishes. The Lady Tigers now have two weeks to prepare for the Campbellsville University Invitational hosted at Rosewood Country Club in Lebanon, Ky. on Monday-Tuesday, April 10-11.
