KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2017 Softball All-America teams, selected by the NAIA All-America committee. Campbellsville's
Jacqueline Roof was named a Second-Team recipient.
Roof, a junior from Paducah, Ky., also earned First-Team NCCAA All-American honors. Last season, Roof was named the first-ever First-Team All-American in program history.
Roof, a two-time Mid-South Conference Player of the Year, earned the All-American mention with a .433 average, 13 home runs and 51 RBI. The home runs and runs batted in led the Lady Tigers. She also led CU with a .784 slugging percentage with 17 doubles and two triples. In addition, she stole 14 bags and struck out only seven times in 171 at-bats.
In the Lady Tiger career record book, Roof ranks third with 38 career homers and is 10 away from Bailey Dillender's mark of 48 from 2009-2012. In addition, she is the lone Lady Tiger to record a career slugging percentage of over .700 at .737. Roof is sixth on the all-time list in hits (190) and doubles (35), third in runs scored (158), fifth in RBI (132), seventh in walks (60), first in batting average (.406), fifth in total bases (345) and sixth in stolen bases (30).
In addition to Roof, Senior Kali Pugh of Oklahoma City is named the NAIA Player of the Year and Freshman Kathleen Daniel of Brenau is honored as the NAIA Pitcher of the Year. The All-America teams are comprised of First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention selections.
The Stars earned their second-straight and NAIA record 10th World Series last week.
There are 13 individuals are making at least their second All-America appearance. Abby Meador of Oklahoma City and Claudia Farrell of Grand View (Iowa) are the only three-time All-Americans amongst the 2017 honorees.
