CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Justin Brown was selected as the Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
This is the first time in Brown's career he has been named the MSC Wrestler of the Week. This also marks the second-straight week the Tigers have had a MSC Wrestler of the Week after
Chuck Sharonearned the honor last week.
At Indiana Institute of Technology's Warrior Duals last week, Brown took down two ranked foes en route to winning all four of his bouts. Campbellsville finished an even 2-2 at the Warrior Duals.
Brown started the weekend with a 6-0 decision over Jeremiah Reed (ranked eight at 174 pounds) in the Tigers 37-7 dual victory over Hannibal-LaGrange University – who is receiving votes in the national poll.
Against NCAA Division II Davenport University, Brown picked up his second decision victory over Sam Greco, 10-3. In a 23-21 loss to Marian University – who is receiving votes – the senior from Valley Springs, California earned a 5-0 decision win over Ismael Cornejo.
Brown capped off his day with a 5-2 decision victory against No. 11 Scott Sopko of the third-ranked Indiana Tech squad, where Campbellsville dropped a 31-12 dual.
On the season, Brown is now 12-1 overall and started his dual season with a record of 4-0. Against NAIA opponents, he is now 3-0.
Next up, the Tigers travel to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for the Smokey Mountain Duals on Sunday.
