BLUEFIELD, Va. — Campbellsville had to wait for some snow to disperse, but once it did the Tigers heated up the night with 14 hits in a 12-2 thumping of Bluefield College.

  
CU (21-6, 8-2 MSC) inched closer to a tie for first in the MSC, trailing Cumberland University by two games in the win column.

Shayne Kelly accounted for four runs with a three-hit evening.

Patrick McMeel went six innings for the Tigers, allowing two runs on seven hits and walking two. He struck out nine. Drew Pettit came on in relief in the sixth and pitched two innings of no-hit ball, fanning two.

As it turned out the Tigers scored the only runs they would need in their first at-bat. Tanner Nielsen led off with a single and Josh Potter walked with one out. Nielsen and Potter took third and second, respectively, on stolen bases and Aaron Schwoebel loaded the sacks with the second walk of the inning. Kelly's single plated two runs and Schwoebel scored on a wild throw.

Campbellsville added one run in the third and two each in the fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth.

Keaton Neeb doubled with one out in the third and Levi McCamish, pinch running for the CU catcher, scored on Schwoebel's single.

In the fourth, Angelo Simmons led off with a safety and advanced to third on a passed ball. Nielsen's single scored Simmons. Nielsen eventually scored on a passed ball.

In the fifth, Simmons' RBI-single was preceded by Kelly's single and a double by Carlos Torres. Torres scored on another Bluefield throwing error.

Neeb picked up another RBI, knocking in pinch hitter Brandon Johnson, who hit a one-out double to left. McCamish, running again for Neeb, scored on Schwoebel's second hit of the game.

Campbellsville closed its scoring in the eighth when Johnson reached on a wild throw and Schwoebel benefitted from a dropped fly. Kelly's double knocked in his third and fourth runs.

CU and Bluefield (13-17, 3-10 MSC) hook up again tomorrow for an afternoon double-header, starting at 1 p.m. EDT.
