CU cross country sweeps Fast Cats Classic

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Campbellsville University men's and women's cross country each took first place at the Fast Cats Classic Saturday, Oct. 11.

Adam Sandidge and Maggie Calvert led their respective teams by finishing second in their individual standings.

Sandidge, a freshman from Hodgenville, Ky., completed the 8K in a time of 26:45.08, just over five seconds behind Bethel's Carlos Gonzalez. Joey Hartlage was close behind for Campbellsville, finishing fourth with a time of 27:11.84. Dyan Ford was 10th among attached runners with a time of 28:07.60. Alex Robinson and Wade Harris were also in the Top 15 with times of 28:31.76 and 28:35.85, respectively.

Other runners for Campbellsville were Ross Allen (28:55.45), William Pearson (29:19.52), Zach Napier (29:40.01), Brandon Wiseheart (29:54.83) and Luke Camp (32:04.44).  

For the women, Calvert led the way with a time of 19:42.68, just over two seconds behind Kentucky Wesleyan's Rachel Keeley. Sarah Johnson was third among attached runners with a time of 20:12.50. Mallory Vest (8th, 21:09.96), Shelby Courtney (9th, 21:13.28) and Abby Wicke (10th, 21:37.52) rounded out Campbellsville's Top 5 and the top 10 overall attached individuals.

Brandi Thomas was the other CU runner, finishing 15th in 22:31.96.

The Lady Tigers edged Brescia University for the team title by having six of its top seven in the Top 10.

Campbellsville's cross country teams will take the weekend off for Fall Break and return to competition Oct. 25 at the St. Louis Fall Classic.
