OWENSBORO, Ky. — With a pair of Top 6 finishes and four career-best times, Campbellsville men's cross country ran away with a third place finish today at the Fast Cats Classic.
Junior
Adam Sandidge finished fourth with a time of 25:59 — 1:18 behind champion James Ngandu from Tiffin University. Also, 2015 Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year,
Bret Crawford, finished in sixth place with a time of 26:20.
Will Ballard was the third Tiger that had a counted time, racing in 27:53 to place in 25th. Freshmen
Matthew Fischer and
Chris Stoeckel finished just behind Ballard with times of 27:56 to place 27th and 28:14 to place 34th, respectively.
In addition, Campbellsville brought home four career-best times.
Corbin Harris led the way with a time of 28:28, eclipsing his personal-best by 43 seconds to finish in 42nd place. Freshmen Jiovanni Rivera and
Hunter Jackson also ran their fastest 8k today, finishing with times of 28:34 and 30:12, respectively. Lastly,
Brandon Wiseheart ran a personal best time of 31:27 to finish in 84th place.
A trio of other Tigers also ran, as
Zach Napier placed 62nd with a time of 29:15.08,
Camryn Snapp was just behind him at 29:15.68 and
Ross Allen finished in 78th with a time of 29:58.
Bellarmine won the team championship with an average time of 27:11 and scoring of 39 points. The Knights had four runners in the Top 10.
Centre followed the Knights in second place, while Campbellsville was third, Lincoln Memorial fourth and Tiffin was fifth. Kentucky Wesleyan finished in sixth, while Bethel University was seventh and Spalding University was eighth. MSC foe Lindsey Wilson finished in ninth place, while Freed Hardeman rounded out the Top 10.
After racing four of the last five weekends, Campbellsville will now have two weeks off to prepare for the St. Louis Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 22.
