Cross country places 2nd and 5th at MSC preview

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Men's and women's cross country got a taste of their conference competition in the Mid-South Preview Meet Saturday afternoon at Phil Moore Park, finishing second and fifth, respectively.
 
Adam Sandidge led the Tigers to second place with a time of 27:17.6, finishing third individually. Sophomores Bret Crawford and Will Ballard finished ninth and 11th with times 28:26.8 and 28:43.7, respectively. Freshman Matthew Fischer was the fourth Tiger to finish in the Top 20 with a time of 29:28.9 for 17th place.
 
Other Tigers scoring team points were freshman Chris Stoeckel (24th, 30:19.2), freshman Camryn Snapp (27th, 30:40.9), and junior Ross Allen (33rd, 31:30.4).
 
Individual finishers not counted in team points were freshman Jiovanni Rivera (32:15.8) and Hunter Jackson (42nd, 34:05.8).

Shawnee State University's Adrian Ross won the individual title, finishing with a time of 26:51.18. The Bears had six runners finish in the Top 7. 

Outside of Shawnee State and Campbellsville finishing first and second, respectively. Cumberland University placed third and Georgetown College finished in fourth place. 
 
Freshman Madison Dooley led the Lady Tigers to fifth place with a time of 20:58.3, finishing ninth individually. She was followed by Miranda Rzendzian who finished 21st with a time of 22:47.0 and Brandi Thomas who finished 22nd in 22:51.2.
 
Other Lady Tigers scoring team points and individual runners were Elise Shainfield (26th, 23:08.9), Julianna Bradley (31st, 23:37.6), Jessica Cook (33rd, 23:44.9), Abby Wicke (24:59.9), and Jennifer Maxwell (47th, 28:49.2).

Shawnee State's Anna Havranek won the individual title for the Bears as well, finishing with a time of 19:11.54. Also on the women's side, six of the Top 7 runners came from SSU.

The Bears won the team race, while Georgetown College placed secon, Life University was third and Cumberland University finished in fourth. After Campbellsville, University of Pikeville placed sixth. 
 
The Tigers and Lady Tigers got a look at the MSC course at Phil Moore Park in Bowling Green, Ky. where they will compete in the conference championships on Saturday, Nov. 5.
 
Next weekend, Saturday Sept. 17, the cross country teams will head to Berea, Ky. for the Berea College Invitational.
