MOREHEAD, Ky. — Tiger cross country finished with two of its seven harriers in the Top 20 Friday night at the Morehead State Eagle 5k. Campbellsville finished in fifth place with an average finish of 17:02.
Junior
Adam Sandidge led the way for CU with a 12
th place finish, running 16:05.5, while 2015 Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year,
Bret Crawford placed 18
th with a time of 16:27.7.
The Tigers had four freshmen racing in their first competition tonight, with
Chris Stoeckel leading the way. He finished in 39
th place with a time of 17:24.7. Other freshman were
Camryn Snapp (45
th, 17:36.1), Jiovanni Rivera (53
rd, 18:22) and
Hunter Jackson (58
th, 19:18.6).
Sophomore
Will Ballard (43
rd, 17:31.2) and Junior
Zach Napier (49
th, 17:59.8) were sandwiched between a pair of freshmen, while
Ross Allen (55
th, 18:29.8) and
Brandon Wiseheart (61
st, 20:12.8) rounded out the Tigers.
Eastern Kentucky University won the NCAA division with an average time of 15:49. Morehead State placed second (16:09) and Marshall University was right behind them in third (16:13). The College of Charleston was just ahead of CU (16:50).
Campbellsville will now have a week to prepare for its first 8k of the season, as the Tigers travel to Bowling Green, Ky. for the Mid-South Conference Preview on Saturday, Sept. 10.
