BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A soft course and peak racing conditions helped the Tigers to a second place finish at the Mid South Conference Championships this morning.
Bret Crawford finished the race as the runner up and punched his ticket to the NAIA National Championship in two weeks. Crawford finished 14 seconds behind Shawnee States Seth Farmer and ran a time of 25:38.5 on the day. He has never placed outside the top four positions for his entire career running at the MSC Championships and earned first team all conference.
The trio of
Corbin Harris,
Jacob Hamilton, and
Sam Kiser all earned second team all conference honors this morning. Harris hit a lifetime best and improved upon his all time top time for Campbellsville, he placed eighth with a time of 26:18.2 which is now number six on the all-time list. Hamilton ran a 26:36.8 and was close behind Harris at eleventh place. Kiser who was close behind Hamilton filled in the last all conference honor and placed 14
thwith a time of 26:44.3.
Making his debut and rounding out the top five scoring for the Tigers was
Kipkoech Lang'at. He placed 20
thand ran a time of 27:10.8.
Chris Stoeckel was close behind Lang'at at 27:17.8 and placing 22
nd.
The duo of
Cody Horn and
Jiovanni Rivera finished back-to-back. Horn placed 27
thand ran a time of 27:29.6 while Rivera was 28
thand ran a time of 27:30.
Freshman
Jarrett Crawford lead the final trio for the Tigers. He placed 31
stand ran a time of 27:41.5.
Camryn Snapp was able to move up the second half of the race as he placed 35
thwith a time of 27:53.7. The final Tiger to come in on the day was
Matthew Fischer. Fischer placed just inside the top 40 at 39
thplace running a time of 28:22.5.
Shawnee State won the team title with 29 points, beat Campbellsville's 55 points. The bears 1-5 spread on the day was 1:01.1 while the Tigers 1-5 spread was 1:32.4.
Campbellsville will now await its NAIA Championship hopes as a team later on next week as they will look to receive one of the at-large bids to the championships.
Their next meet will be out in Missouri as they will race in the NCCAA National Championships next Saturday.
