CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – On Saturday the Tiger cross country will look to open up their season as a part of the Greater Louisville Classic at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
After a long break from racing the Campbellsville harriers are poised to begin the fall portion of their season as they toe the line as a part of the blue race in the classic at 10:30 a.m. ET.
CU will send 10 racers to the line as senior,
Sam Kiser will lead the young Tigers on Saturday after running a 25:30 at this race last season.
As a whole, the Tigers put together one of the best performances in school history last season at this meet after a 26:16 average time led them to a 10
th place finish overall.
Along with Kiser, CU will return
Kipkoech Lang'at,
Brandon Cox, and
Collin Sheffield from the race a year ago. Lang'at was able to work as the Tiger's fifth scorer last season, placing 147
th with a 26:44. Cox and Sheffield followed with a 27:15 and a 28:11 respectively.
Jarrett Crawford and
Briley Shrewsberry will also join the returners at the meet after not competing a year ago.
The six returners will also be joined by a quartet of freshmen, making their collegiate debut –
Shawn Little,
Logan Lindsey, Logan Bargo, and
Aiden Tucker.
In his first 8K of his career, Little will look to make a huge impact as he comes into the season with the fastest 5K time among his fellow freshmen (15:58).
Joining the blue race, CU will get an early look at MSC competitors in Cumberland University and Shawnee State.
The meet will take place at 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
