HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- The Tigers took the road to compete in the Jax State Southern Showcase on Friday. The Campbellsville men competed in their first 8k of the season, while the women remained at the 5k distance.
Nathan Sury led the men, finishing 110th with a time of 25:13.5, followed by Martin Batel, who finished second for the Tigers in 158th place with a time of 25:40.7.
Outside of the top 200 runners, Aaron Smith placed next in 280th and a time of 26:37.6, Samuel Larson placed 299th with a time of 26:48.0, and in 377th place, Austin Barnes, with a finishing time of 28:03.7.
Dustin Ralph and Matthew Mattingly also ran for the Tigers. Ralph placed 409th with a time of 29:28.9, and Mattingly placed 431st with a time of 31:01.3.
Campbellsville men placed 35th as a team.
On the women's side, Jennifer Buttery led Campbellsville, finishing 417th with a time of 21:54.4, followed by Anna Claire Carwile, who placed second for the Tigers, in 422nd place with a time of 22:02.0.
Amelia Larson, Meredith Wilson, and Julia Smaldone followed in 433rd, 436th, and 437th places, respectively, Larson with a time of 22:16.9, Wilson with 22:22.9, and Smaldone with 22:23.5.
Maggie Jewell and Becca Stringer also ran for Campbellsville placing 445th and 455th, Jewell with a time of 23:00.0 and Stringer with 23:53.0.
Campbellsville women placed 51st as a team.
The Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Louisville, Kentucky, to race in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, October 4th.
