LEBANON, Tenn. - Tiger wrestling returned to a tournament format Saturday with great success, as three Campbellsville University wrestlers won their weight class at the Cumberland University Open, while nine of 15 CU grapplers ranked in the Top 6.

Tim Thurston made his first appearance of the 2011-12 season at 133 pounds and swept his competition to go 4-0 and win the weight class with a 9-5 decision over Lindsey Wilson College's Ethan Miller.
Jamelle Jones also remained unbeaten for the 2011-12 season, by picking up a semifinal pin over Tennessee-Chattanooga's Thomas Day in 1:42 and beating Julian Smith (unattached McKendree), 6-4, in the 197-pound final. The third first-place finish belonged to
Chris Teague at 141 pounds. Teague was 3-0 on the day, including a 13-3 major decision in the 141-pound final over Lindsey Wilson's DaMonte Riley.
Six of the nine attached Campbellsville wrestlers placed in the Top 5 with
DeCoreus Leavell finishing in third-place at 133 pounds,
Nick Waldrop fourth at 157 pounds and
Paul Gryniuk fifth at 165.
Campbellsville also had seven unattached wrestlers, including four Top 6 finishes by
Ty Cartmell (third, 174), Conor Maglecic (third, 197),
Jarvis Elam (sixth, 125) and
Brandon Westerman (sixth, 149).
Fourth-ranked Campbellsville will travel to No. 6 Lindsey Wilson College Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET for a Mid-South Conference dual.
