Beauford Sanders, a South Carolina native, is inducted to the Campbellsville University Hall of Fame for his decades of dedication to the Tiger Baseball program.
Sanders is the active all-time wins leader in the state of Kentucky with 985 wins at Campbellsville while in his career he has amounted 1,253 wins. He is still the all-time wins leader at North Greenville Junior College with 268.
Early on in his Campbellsville career, the Tigers won the KIAC Conference Tournament in 1995 and 1996 with the 1995 team having a record of 41-14 (.745).
During the 2009 season, Sanders team made it to the NAIA World Series after winning the NAIA Opening Round bracket that year. Campbellsville finished out the season at the World Series with an overall record of 39-12 (.765).
Coach Sanders has been able to bring the Tigers 16 seasons of 30 wins or more. He had 18 straight winning seasons from 2003-2020. Campbellsville won the NCCAA World Series title in 2018 while Sanders also collected the NCCAA Coach of the Year that season.
Inside the Mid-South Conference (MSC), Tiger Baseball has been the standard since Coach Sanders arrived on campus. His team has won 13 MSC Regular Season Championships while winning the MSC Tournament 11 different times. That included a stretch from 2005-2011 where the Tigers were able to win the MSC each year.
In 2022, Beauford was honored with the Robert E. “Ish” Smith Achievement Award. The award is for individuals who demonstrates unselfish devotion to the promotion of NAIA Baseball throughout a distinguished career. Sanders has seen around 70 percent of his players that reach senior status graduate and many of those players have been selected as Academic All-Conference and All-Americans. The team also has consistently involved itself in community service projects including visiting local nursing homes and lending hands to the Operation Christmas Child and Angel Tree organizations. The Tigers are also an integral part of Kid's Spot in Campbellsville, Ky. Coach Sanders and the team has hosted events each year to have less fortunate children on the field for fun and games while also providing community outreach opportunities.
Sanders enters his 33rd season as the head coach of Tiger Baseball in the 2022-23 school year. He continues to serve as an assistant athletic director for Campbellsville University outside of coaching baseball. Sanders' main responsibilities include game day operations and facility maintenance and improvements.
