Dr. Gary Bloemer has been an instrumental partner in Campbellsville University Sports Medicine, volunteering his services as the orthopedic team physician since 1988. He attends most home football games to see to injuries that occur on the field and sees Campbellsville University student-athletes in his office as needed to help guide treatment and rehabilitation plans. Dr. Bloemer also performs many of the student-athlete’s surgical procedures. In 2003, Dr. Bloemer provided a generous gift to build CU’s athletic training room.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Bloemer grew up in Louisville, Kentucky where he graduated from Trinity High School in 1973. Dr. Bloemer attended the University of Louisville, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1976. He received his medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for being in the top portion of his class. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. He completed a fellowship in orthopedic surgery at Hughston Sports Medicine Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.

Dr. Bloemer is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the Americans Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. His professional associations include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Kentucky Orthopedic Association, and he was an advisory member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. Dr. Bloemer is an assistant clinical professor of orthopedic at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He has been a team physician for numerous high school football teams in Louisville, Kentucky.

Today, Dr. Bloemer is senior partner in the group Norton Audubon Orthopedic Specialists. He lives in Louisville, Kentucky with his wife Sharon and has three children.
